DANCE ~ Speaking Chinese is inspired by Zhang Ailing's 1943 novella, Love in a Fallen City and features the music of Shanghai composer Zhu Jian'er. With Chinese soloist Hou Honglan & African-American dancer C. Derrick Jones, choreography & direction by Kim Epifano, dramaturgy by Barry Plews & Hu He, designs by Lu Yi Chen, Weng Ling Fa & Chu Hong Sheng and lighting designs by Ron Dumonchelle, this Reckless Moments - Epiphany Productions Sonic Dance Theater collaboration premiered at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts on 22 May, as part of the 2008 San Francisco International Arts Festival. ANIMATED SHORT FILM ~ Sweet & Sour is a 17' animated short film by The People's Republic of Animation, Shanghai Animation Film Studio & Reckless Moments. This collaboration was led by producers Barry Plews & Hu He, PRA producers Sam White & Huy Nguyen, SAFS Vice President Zhou Jun, PRA's creative director Eddie White, (who directed his own script), SAFS 2D director Peng Ge, head of production Zhu Yu Ping, line producer Hu Ya Ting and head of creation Pu Shu. Art direction by PRA's Ari Gibson. Original score by Benjamin Speed. Translations by Hu He & Dai Yan Jun. Sweet & Sour premiered on 24 February in the 2007 Adelaide Film Festival and has won awards at the 2007 St Kilda Short Film Festival (SBS TV Award), the 2007 Sydney Film Festival (Yoram Gross Award), the 2007 ATOM Awards (Best Animation) and 2008 China International Cartoon & Animation Festival (Monkey King Award).
